Welcome,
With appreciation for personal journeys and a hope to make positive differences, I feel fortunate to have found my calling in psychotherapy. Foremost, I respect that you are the ultimate expert in your life. Through a collaborative process, my experience and training enable me to help you set and realize goals to truly thrive.
Following advice of a cherished mentor, I pursued an education that would support both the art and science of psychotherapy. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with minors in art history & studio art at Humboldt State University, I obtained a Master of Sciences degree in Counseling Psychology from Central Washington University. Combined, these programs provide a foundation for a practice based on effective interventions tailored to meet your needs while incorporating spirituality, creativity and emotional wisdom.
My integrative approach to counseling draws upon Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Person-Centered, Family Systems and Jungian schools of psychology. More information about these orientations is available on the 'Emphasis & Orientation' page of this web-site.
With several years' experience in social service and administrative positions, I maintain an active commitment to further professional development. Once I obtained MFT licensure in April, 2007, I sought additional training and qualified as a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) in the same year. During the summer of 2008 I completed the first two levels of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training, and in March of 2009 I completed EMDR-III. In November 2009, following a year and a half of intensive consultation, practice and further continuing education, I became an EMDRIA- certified EMDR practitioner. I intend to continue expanding my knowledge in each of these areas. Additionally, I recently received training necessary to provide supervision to intern marriage & family therapists, which I hope will further deepen my understanding of therapy and the practice of it while helping others do the same.
As a full clinical member of both CAMFT and EMDRIA, I am familiar with and abide by the ethical standards and professional codes published by these professional organizations, as well as California laws and regulations governing the conduct of licensed marriage & family therapists.
Please feel free to contact me for more information. I look forward to meeting with you personally to determine how I might assist you in uncovering your full potential.
